The Uncrowned Shall Be King Again Lord of the Rings

As we all know, Tolkien'south works tin be interpreted in many unlike ways. I was thinking, and I thought of my interpretation of the All that is gold poem, spoken past Bilbo in the Council of Elrond, of Aragorn:

ane. All that is gold does non glitter,
ii. Non all those who wander are lost;
three. The sometime that is strong does not wither,
four. Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

5. From the ashes a burn down shall be woken,
6. A light from the shadows shall spring;
seven. Renewed shall be bract that was broken:
viii. The crownless once more shall be king.

Now, here comes my interpretations of the lines:

ane. Aragorn is not the prettiest guy you lot've always seen, still he is valuable in his knowledge and his ability to keep his head in times of fear/danger/despair. He likewise doesn't announced to show whatever qualities of a king as he is escorting, I approximate yous may say, the hobbits to Rivendell. He shows his cognition with athelas, but he doesn't human activity as of royalty.
2. Aragorn wandered well-nigh in the wild for a skillful portion of his life. He went through forests & such, wandering, and gaining knowledge.
iii. *The old noesis of the men of Numenore was not lost. He was one of the few who possessed knowledge such as that of athelas.
iv. The roots of Aragorns led direct to Isildur. His family line was probably pretty stiff...
5. *From these higher up roots, Aragorn will regain his power, and he would show kingly things.
six. *A lite from the shadows shall spring. This, I believe, ways that Aragorn will exist a savior, a great person, in the shadows of and then end of the third historic period.
7. He got his niggling toy remade in Rivendell...
eight. Aragorn'south gonna be male monarch...

*-These are most likely to have unlike interpretations...

Now, I enquire of you, what are your interpretations of these lines, AND, what other vocal/verse form do you believe can be interpreted in different means, AND how do you interpret these?

1 - Aragorn was quite the foul man, as Frodo said. But, he was of priceless value
2 - Certain, Aragorn wanders. I wander around my firm. I'm not lost, I'm just looking for something, and I don't know what, much like Aragorn was
3 - Numenorean blood was apparently failing in the tertiary historic period. Aragorn was at the end of the High Numenorean line, which would make his blood sometime one could say, simply he was still as valliant as whatsoever other Numenorean from before
4 - The same declining mentioned above, could be compared to the frost. Aragorn'due south Numenorianness was affected very trivialy, if at all
v - From all of this fading of the Gondorians and Dunedain, a flame, peradventure of the due west (Anduril), would be awoken. The flame could also represent hope, which was Estel/Aragorn
half dozen - Same every bit above.
7 - Anduril/Narsil
8 - Hmm... Aragorn, King, Crownless... Lets put 2 and two together...

I've e'er thought this poem very fun to interpret... Good thread Mike

I'll give information technology a whirl. . .

one. All that is gilded does non glitter,
Same as nigh everybody. . .Aragorn is a dimond in the rough.

ii. Not all those who wander are lost;
Tin't this just be pretty? Why do nosotros need meaning. . .It's pretty! ;) Seriously, Aragorn wanders about with a purpose unlike those who wander about because they're drunk.

3. The old that is strong does non wither,
Aragorn was from a long lived race. Aragorn was at the tail end. I tin also see this as the old traditions.

iv. Deep roots are non reached by the frost.
This can exist Aragorn's cultural or genetic roots surviving through many years of hardships.

five. From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
Aragorn will come out of the seeming defeat of his house.

six. A light from the shadows shall spring;
Aforementioned as above, but some other way of saying it.

7. Renewed shall be bract that was broken:
This means that the balde that was broken shall be renewed.

viii. The crownless once again shall be king.
And the kingless again shall be crown.

OK, I'll give it a effort.

1. All that is aureate does not glitter,
(He needs to brush off some layers of mud and dirt)
2. Not all those who wander are lost;
(Just homeless)
iii. The sometime that is strong does not wither,
(Old shoe leather is near indestructible.)
4. Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
(Good hair folicles makes him resistant to gray hair.)
5. From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
(Excels at campfire making)
6. A light from the shadows shall bound;
(Hungry dwarves?)
seven. Renewed shall be blade that was cleaved:
(A little tarn-X and spot welding should practice it.)
viii. The crownless again shall be rex.

I never liked "poem interpretations", but since I joined TTF many of my "old habits" have changed (mostly in a practiced mode;)).

OK, that'due south enough of talking, here's my (little) interpretation:

1. All that is gold does non glitter,
In most cases "true value" is hidden from unaware eyes...

2. Not all those who wander are lost;
I think it reflects Aragorn'south power of finding the "right" path (not but out at that place in the wilderness...)

3. The old that is strong does not wither,
I tried to discover some 'other' interpretation (since Mike indicated that this 1 tin be interpreted in many means;)), but I guess that "all roads lead to Rom...*bites his tounge* (oops... I hateful to Numenor:D ;))". I'll stick with what was said before... at least until I find sth that differs in some way;)

4. Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
His organized religion is so deep equally to not exist "corrupted" past Enemy'southward Evil will (does information technology make sense?)

five. From the ashes a fire shall exist woken,
From the "ashes" of Numenorian kingdoms in Middle-earth shall come the heir ("burn down") of all times of glory (again "ashes")

6. A light from the shadows shall leap;
Something new... mayhap even unexpected shall happen... sth like that "new hope ("light") on the Pirates' ships ("shadows") sailing the Anduin"...

7. Renewed shall be blade that was broken:
"blade that was broken" shall be forged again... that's simple, but not to anybody in Centre-earth (hobbits never heard nigh the Last Allience and its results, did they?)

8. The crownless again shall be king.
The King shall rise again... simply who shall it exist? Not everyone possesses such a wisdom --> information technology's meant to be SURPRISE:D :D :D
